Indore University PG Students in Limbo as Exam Form Submission Stalls
Thousands of postgraduate students at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya in Indore are confronting significant uncertainty and anxiety as the submission of their final semester examination forms remains stalled. The delay, which has disrupted academic planning at a critical juncture, is attributed to a pending software update on the MP Online portal, the official platform for managing examination processes.
Examination Schedule and Portal Issues
The university has officially proposed to conduct the second semester examinations between May 12 and May 22. However, with the exam form link yet to be activated on the MP Online portal, students enrolled in both government and private affiliated colleges have been unable to complete the mandatory application process. This technical glitch has forced many students to make repeated, frustrating visits to the university campus in search of clarity, only to be met with confusion and mounting stress.
Root Cause: National Education Policy Implementation
University officials have clarified that the core issue stems from the introduction of new postgraduate subjects under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which is being implemented from the 2025-26 academic session. This academic year marks the first batch of one-year postgraduate courses, including programs such as MA, MCom, MSc, and MHSc. These new courses require updated subject mapping within the university's administrative systems.
The MP Online software, which handles exam registrations, has not yet been aligned with these curricular changes, leading to the unexpected and prolonged delay. Controller of Examinations Ashesh Tiwari stated that the form submission process was initially scheduled to commence on April 5. Due to these technical constraints, it is now anticipated to begin next week. Once the portal becomes functional, students are likely to have until April 25 to complete their applications, though this timeline remains tentative.
Student Anxiety and Academic Disruption
The delay has generated widespread confusion and fear among the student body. Many students are apprehensive about last-minute complications, especially with limited time remaining before the scheduled examinations. The situation has raised serious concerns regarding their academic preparedness and the smooth conduct of the upcoming final semester exams. The inability to submit forms not only hampers study planning but also adds to the psychological burden during an already stressful period.
As the university and technical teams work to resolve the software issues, postgraduate students in Indore remain in a state of limbo, hoping for a swift resolution to avoid further academic disruptions.
