The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has initiated the application process for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) positions at the U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) in Bengaluru. This recruitment drive, announced through Advertisement No. URSC:02:2026 dated June 12, 2026, aims to fill 18 vacancies across multiple engineering and science disciplines.
About URSC
URSC is ISRO's premier centre for satellite technology, having contributed significantly to landmark missions such as Chandrayaan-3, Aditya-L1, the Mars Orbiter Mission, and Astrosat. The centre is involved in spacecraft design, development, testing, and operation, along with advanced research in space technologies.
Vacancy Details
The vacancies are available in fields including microelectronics, computer science, information technology, power electronics, digital electronics, optical engineering, applied physics, aerospace, mathematics, thermal engineering, and mechanical engineering.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for most JRF positions must hold an M.E., M.Tech, M.Sc (Engineering), or an equivalent postgraduate degree with at least 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale. For the Mathematics and Physics-related JRF-E13 post, candidates with an M.Sc must have secured a minimum of 65% marks or equivalent CGPA. Applicants must also have qualified a national-level examination such as CSIR-UGC NET, GATE, JAM, JEST, or other recognized examinations conducted by central government departments and institutions.
Age Limit
The maximum age limit is 28 years as of July 11, 2026. Age relaxation of five years is available for SC and ST candidates, while OBC candidates can avail a relaxation of three years. Other relaxations will be provided as per government rules.
Tenure and Stipend
Selected candidates will initially be appointed as Junior Research Fellows for two years. The fellowship can be extended based on performance and project requirements, with the combined tenure of JRF and Senior Research Fellow (SRF) not exceeding five years. Selected fellows will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 37,000. Those upgraded to SRF may receive Rs 42,000 per month. House Rent Allowance (HRA) and medical benefits will also be provided as per applicable rules.

The selection process will involve shortlisting based on academic performance, followed by an interview for screened-in candidates.
