Patna Schools Observe Indian Army Day with Patriotic Events and Safety Initiatives
Patna witnessed two significant events on Thursday as educational institutions marked important occasions with enthusiasm and purpose. Sainik School Nalanda celebrated the 78th Indian Army Day with traditional military drills, while Loyola High School focused on road safety awareness for its students.
Sainik School Nalanda Hosts Drill Competition for Army Day
The 78th Indian Army Day celebrations at Sainik School Nalanda filled the campus with patriotic spirit. Colonel Bhupender Kumar, the school principal, attended the program as the chief guest. The event featured an Inter-House Drill Competition that showcased the cadets' discipline and coordination.
Cadets from four houses participated in the competition:
- Ajatshatru House
- Ashoka House
- Mahavira House
- Siddhartha House
Each house presented squad-wise parade drills marked by precision and teamwork. The audience appreciated the performances, which demonstrated the cadets' training and dedication.
Mahavira House emerged as the winner of the competition, securing the Inter-House Drill Championship Trophy for the 2025-26 academic year. Ashoka House claimed the second position in the contest. Cadet Aryan Kumar received special recognition as he was awarded the Best Contingent Commander Trophy for his leadership during the drills.
The school band added to the patriotic atmosphere with a spirited performance. The musicians impressed everyone with disciplined formations and stirring patriotic tunes that resonated across the grounds.
Principal Encourages Cadets to Consider Armed Forces Careers
Colonel Bhupender Kumar felicitated the winners with trophies and certificates during the ceremony. In his address to the gathering, he spoke about the Indian Army's rich legacy spanning 77 years of service to the nation.
The principal highlighted the army's tradition of bravery and duty. He urged the cadets to channel their dedication toward potential careers in the armed forces. Colonel Kumar emphasized how their training at Sainik School could prepare them for future service to the country.
The program attracted several distinguished attendees. Vice Principal Lieutenant Colonel Deepak Singh Thakur joined teachers, staff members, and cadets for the celebrations. Their presence underscored the school's commitment to honoring India's military traditions.
Loyola High School Focuses on Road Safety Education
Meanwhile, Loyola High School in Kurji, Patna organized a road safety awareness program on the same day. The school collaborated with Mission Road Safety and the district transport office to educate students about safe commuting practices.
Amit Kumar from Mission Road Safety served as the key speaker for the event. He sensitized students about various aspects of road safety, including defensive driving techniques and the importance of traffic discipline. His presentation aimed to make students more aware of their responsibilities as road users.
District Transport Officer Upendra Pal addressed the gathering as well. He described adherence to road safety rules as a pledge to save lives. The officer encouraged students to become responsible citizens who prioritize safety on roads for themselves and others.
The NCC Udaan team contributed to the program by providing first-aid training to students. This practical component equipped participants with essential skills for emergency situations on roads.
All participants concluded the program by taking a road safety oath. This collective commitment reinforced the importance of the lessons learned during the awareness session.
