A senior professor from the Psychiatry Department at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak has been placed under immediate suspension pending disciplinary proceedings, according to an official order released on Friday.

The action stems from issues related to the State Institute of Mental Health (SIMH), which is located on the PGIMS campus. The office order issued by the PGIMS director stated that after a preliminary review of available evidence, the competent authority found sufficient grounds to initiate disciplinary proceedings that could result in a major penalty. The university noted that the professor's continued presence in office might prejudice the fair conduct of the inquiry and adversely affect institutional administration. Consequently, the professor was suspended under applicable service regulations and the Haryana Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 2016.
Conditions During Suspension
During the suspension period, the professor is entitled to subsistence allowance and other admissible benefits as per rules. He has been directed to remain stationed at Rohtak headquarters and cannot leave without prior written permission from the competent authority.
