The Tamilnadu Small and Tiny Industries Association (TANSTIA) has taken a significant step to foster innovation in Trichy. They signed a memorandum of understanding with six local engineering institutions and arts and science colleges. This move aims to support entrepreneurship, intellectual property rights, and incubation activities.

The participating colleges include several prominent institutions in the Trichy region. K Ramakrishnan College of Engineering joins the initiative. Thanthai Periyar Government Arts and Science College is also part of this collaboration. Government Arts and Science College in Srirangam participates as well.

Other colleges involved are Indra Ganesan College of Engineering, MAM College of Engineering, and Nehru Memorial College. Together, these institutions will work closely with TANSTIA to create new opportunities for students and local industries.

Key Benefits of the Two-Year MoU

This MoU will remain in effect for two years. During this period, students will gain access to valuable opportunities. They can participate in internships with local MSMEs. Industrial visits will become more frequent and structured.

Joint research and development projects with MSMEs will be encouraged. MSME employees will also benefit from technical training programs conducted at the colleges. This training aims to upgrade their skills and keep them competitive.

Local industries will maintain regular contact with the institutions. They will collaborate on research projects and consultancy work. Employment opportunities for students will increase through these strengthened connections.

Official Statements and Future Plans

N Kanagasabapathy, an executive committee member of TANSTIA, shared his thoughts on the partnership. He stated that the MoU will strengthen the connection between local industries and educational institutions. Students can now receive training and complete industrial internships locally without needing to leave Trichy.

Various government schemes will become accessible through this MoU. The Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute (EDII) schemes will be available to support student ventures. This provides a structured pathway for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Colleges have committed to providing office space for mentorship and training activities. TANSTIA members will use this space to promote startup incubation among final-year college students. The TANSTIA-FNF Service Centre (TFSC) will play a crucial role in identifying funding support for student startups.

TFSC will also provide networking assistance to help students obtain required certifications and documents. Each institute has pledged adequate resources to encourage startup ecosystems. They aim to nurture student talent and help commercialize innovative solutions.

Students will design products and solutions to address real problems faced by industries. The partnership ensures these innovations reach the market effectively. This collaborative effort promises to transform the entrepreneurial landscape in Trichy.
