TISS Vice-Chancellor Advocates for Inclusive Development and Entrepreneurship at BBAU Foundation Day
During the foundation day celebration of Dr Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) in Lucknow on Monday, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Vice-Chancellor Badri Narayan Tiwari delivered a compelling address on the necessity of inclusive development. He asserted that development must be a continuous process, requiring policymakers to ensure equal participation from all societal sections.
Revisiting Ambedkar's Ideals for Societal Empowerment
Speaking at the seminar titled 'Udhyamita se Samaveshi Vikas: Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar ki Drishti Me', Tiwari highlighted the urgent need to revisit and adopt the ideals of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. "Embracing Ambedkar's messages is essential for building a truly inclusive society," he emphasized. Tiwari further stressed that promoting entrepreneurship is crucial, as it fosters knowledge creation and empowers communities, thereby driving sustainable progress.
DICCI President Highlights Entrepreneurship's Role in Marginalized Communities
Adding to the discourse, Manish Verma, President of the Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI), outlined the organization's objectives in empowering marginalized groups through entrepreneurial initiatives. "Today, individuals from lower castes are achieving remarkable success in business and industry, sectors where they were once far from the mainstream," Verma noted, underscoring the transformative impact of economic inclusion.
Honoring Entrepreneurial Excellence
The event also served as a platform to recognize and celebrate entrepreneurial achievements. Several entrepreneurs were honored with mementos, certificates, and traditional shawls for their outstanding work, innovative efforts, and significant contributions to society. This gesture reinforced the event's theme of fostering inclusivity and economic empowerment through enterprise.
In summary, the BBAU foundation day celebration underscored a dual focus: the imperative of revisiting Ambedkar's vision for societal equity and the powerful role of entrepreneurship in bridging developmental gaps. The insights shared by Tiwari and Verma highlight a growing consensus on integrating marginalized communities into the economic mainstream as a pathway to holistic national progress.
