Uttar Pradesh Rolls Out Artificial Intelligence Training for High School Students
In a significant move to modernize education, the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM) has announced the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the curriculum for students from Class IX to XII. This initiative is part of the vocational training programmes under 'Project Praveen', designed to equip the youth with cutting-edge technological skills.
Empowering Youth with AI Education
The 'AI For All' course, a specialised four-hour programme, will be implemented across 1,200 government secondary schools, benefiting over 2 lakh students. According to Pulkit Khare, director of UPSDM, this course aims to strengthen students' problem-solving abilities, creative thinking, and digital literacy. He emphasized that practical AI knowledge in trades such as tailoring, healthcare, and IT will enable students to work more efficiently and smartly in their future careers.
Tailored Modules for Job Roles
Reflecting the diverse interests of students, UPSDM has developed specialised AI modules for popular job roles, including IT customer care executive, self-employed tailor, healthcare, digital mitra, and soap makers. These modules are designed to provide hands-on experience and prepare students for real-world challenges. Before the academic session 2026-27 commences, all instructors are required to complete training for the 'AI For All' course, with trainers for the five primary job roles undergoing advanced subject-specific courses.
Project Praveen: A Comprehensive Skill Development Programme
Project Praveen is a free 210-hour skill development programme that complements regular studies by imparting job-specific skills in sectors like IT, beauty, healthcare, and electronics. Khare highlighted that the AI course will empower students with a fundamental understanding of AI and its practical applications, turning future technological challenges into opportunities. This initiative underscores Uttar Pradesh's commitment to fostering innovation and preparing students for competitive environments.
