Chandigarh: From the son of a Chandigarh Police head constable studying in a government school to the daughter of an Army officer balancing academics with poetry and coding, students from diverse backgrounds across the Tricity delivered stellar performances in the CBSE Class 12 examinations this year.
Humanities Stream Toppers
The Humanities stream saw Anushka Malik of Saint Soldier's School, Panchkula, and Dishita of Satluj Public School, Panchkula, emerge as joint toppers with 99.2% each. Eighteen-year-old Anushka, daughter of Lt Col Vikas Malik of the Indian Army and homemaker Monika Malik, stood out not only for her academic performance but also for balancing interests including tennis, coding, poetry, sketching, and music. A resident of DLF Valley, Panchkula, she scored perfect 100s in Psychology and Web Applications, along with 99 in Economics and English. She is now preparing for CUET and plans to pursue Psychology.
Dishita, 16, of Satluj Public School, also scored 99.2% in Humanities. Daughter of Hardev Singh and Manju Rani, the Peer Muchalla resident hopes to pursue law and later enter judicial services. Her hobbies include music and gardening.
Non-Medical Stream Topper
Among the most talked-about success stories was that of Anoop Saini, a student of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 35. Son of Haryana Police district crime cell official HC Phoola Ram and homemaker Rani Devi, the 18-year-old lives in Police Lines, Sector 26, and originally belongs to Kaithal. Already securing AIR 470 in JEE Main, Anoop is now preparing for JEE Advanced. Alongside intensive IIT preparation, he scored 100 in Mathematics and Music, and 99 each in Physics, Chemistry, and English. Teachers at the government school described his achievement as a major moment for the institution, highlighting how government school students continue to compete with the best.
Medical Stream Toppers
The Medical stream recorded exceptional performances, with Rishit Singla and Satvik Bhardwaj both scoring 98.4%. Rishit, whose parents Dr Manika Singla and Dr MK Singla are doctors based in Ludhiana, aspires to become a doctor himself. His elder brother is currently pursuing MBBS at Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32. Alongside academics, he maintained a balanced routine with swimming and table tennis.
Seventeen-year-old Satvik Bhardwaj of Shishu Niketan School is also preparing for NEET. His mother Hema Sharma serves as Haryana's Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management, while his father Dr Uday Bhan Bhardwaj is posted with Indian Railways in Delhi. Reading and painting helped him unwind during preparations.
Commerce Stream Topper
In the Commerce stream, Adhishri Dhyani of Satluj Public School scored 98.8%. Daughter of Janardhan Dhyani, who works in the hospitality sector, and Suma Dhyani, who runs home tuition classes, Adhishri now hopes to pursue chartered accountancy.
