Prayagraj: 126 Senior Lecturer Posts in DIET Await Recruitment After 3-Year Gap
126 DIET Senior Lecturer Posts Set for Recruitment in UP

In a significant development for education job seekers in Uttar Pradesh, the recruitment process for 126 senior lecturer positions in District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET) is poised to resume after a hiatus of nearly three years. The Directorate of Education has formally sent a requisition to the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC), setting the stage for a much-awaited hiring drive.

Formal Process Initiated with UPPSC

Official sources indicate that these 126 posts of senior lecturer are expected to be included in the upcoming PCS-2026 advertisement. The commission is preparing to release this advertisement later this month. Once included, the formal recruitment process will kick off with the official notification for PCS-2026. This move has ignited hope among thousands of aspirants who have been waiting for an opportunity in the state's teacher education framework.

A Long Wait Since Last Recruitment

The last recruitment for senior lecturer posts in DIETs was conducted through the PCS-2022 examination, during which only 18 positions were filled. Since that round, no fresh recruitment has taken place, despite a large and persistent number of vacancies across the state. This prolonged gap has created a significant shortage of qualified academic staff in these crucial training institutes.

The role of a senior lecturer in a DIET is a highly coveted one. The position holds a rank equivalent to a Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA), an Associate District Inspector of Schools, and a Principal of a Government Inter College (GIC). This equivalence in seniority and responsibility makes it a top-choice career path for education professionals.

Widespread Vacancies Impacting Training

Under the umbrella of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), there are a total of 210 direct recruitment posts for senior lecturers in DIETs spread across Uttar Pradesh. Alarmingly, more than half of these sanctioned posts are currently vacant. This severe shortage has adversely affected both academic and training activities in several institutes, potentially hampering the quality of teacher education in the state.

The impending recruitment for 126 posts is therefore seen as a critical step towards bridging this staffing gap. While it will not fill all vacancies, it represents a substantial move towards normalcy. Aspirants in Prayagraj and across Uttar Pradesh are now keenly awaiting the official PCS-2026 notification to begin their preparation in earnest.
