Jharkhand Recognizes 139 Schools for Cleanliness and Environmental Excellence
The Jharkhand Education Project Council announced a significant achievement for the state's education sector. A total of 139 schools received recognition under two important initiatives focused on cleanliness and environmental responsibility.
State-Level Selection Process
Officials selected these schools through a rigorous evaluation process. The initiatives involved participation from an impressive 79,922 government and private schools across Jharkhand.
Specifically, 38,299 schools participated in the Clean and Green School Rating program. Another 41,623 schools took part in the Chief Minister's Clean School Award competition.
Detailed Evaluation Criteria
Assessment teams used thirteen key indicators to evaluate schools. These included:
- Availability of safe drinking water
- Functional toilet facilities
- Proper maintenance of sanitation infrastructure
- Promotion of hygiene practices among students
- Active child cabinet participation
- Implementation of eco-friendly activities
- Green school initiatives
State-level teams worked with 2,477 educational professionals during the evaluation. These included cluster resource persons, block resource persons, and various engineers.
Final Selection Results
After thorough assessment at block, district, and state levels, the council finalized the list. Twenty schools earned selection under the Clean and Green School Rating program. Another 119 schools will receive the Chief Minister's Clean School Award.
The JEPC released the complete list of selected schools late on Thursday.
National Competition and Ongoing Monitoring
The twenty schools selected for the Clean and Green School Rating will advance to national competition. Their names will go forward for the national-level meet in the coming months.
To maintain standards, officials will conduct weekly reviews for all selected schools. This ensures sustained compliance with the prescribed cleanliness and environmental criteria.
Broader Educational Impact
JEPC Director Shashi Ranjan emphasized the initiatives' comprehensive nature. He stated that the programs extend beyond basic hygiene. They actively develop environmental responsibility among students.
The initiatives focus on practical aspects like water conservation and energy efficiency. They also promote sustainable lifestyle choices among the school community.
Ranjan explained that selected schools will become model institutions. Their success should inspire other schools throughout Jharkhand to improve their environmental practices.
This recognition program represents a significant step toward creating cleaner, greener educational environments across the state.
