In a landmark move to revitalize government school education and make it competitive with private institutions, Malavalli MLA PM Narendraswamy has successfully overseen the complete digitization of all 260 government schools within his constituency. This ambitious initiative aims to reverse the trend of declining enrollment by dramatically upgrading infrastructure and teaching methodologies.
The Digital Transformation Blueprint
The project was born from the MLA's observation that even daily wage laborers were increasingly choosing private schools for their children, primarily due to superior facilities. To bridge this gap, a comprehensive digital overhaul was undertaken. Every single government school in the Malavalli constituency has now been equipped with tablets pre-loaded with educational content, televisions or Smart TVs, and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems with batteries to ensure seamless digital learning without disruptions.
Narendraswamy, who also serves as the chairman of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, stated that the project has fundamentally transformed classrooms, bringing them on par with facilities found in private schools. He expressed confidence that this upgrade will increase demand for government schools and simultaneously reduce the burden on educators.
Empowering Teachers and Introducing AI
A critical component of the rollout was a specialized 5-day training program conducted by the Department of State Educational Research and Training (DSERT). So far, 124 teachers have been trained across four batches, with two master trainers from each school who then disseminate the knowledge to their colleagues. The training focuses on creating e-content, lesson-based videos, interactive presentations, and effectively utilizing educational apps.
Furthermore, artificial intelligence tools are being integrated into the curriculum to identify and address individual learning gaps. Teachers are learning to create interactive quizzes, drag-and-drop activities, and use DIKSHA QR code-linked textbook videos. To foster self-learning, multimedia centers are being established in all government high schools. These centers will be outfitted with online class cameras, studio equipment, and receiving TVs, providing a dedicated space for interactive assignments and managed online classes.
Future Vision and Official Commentary
Uma VE, the Block Education Officer (BEO) of Malavalli, highlighted the cascading training model and confirmed the setup of advanced multimedia centers. She noted this marks a significant stride in modernizing education in the region. Malavalli is now the only constituency in the entire Mandya district to achieve 100% digitization of its government schools.
MLA Narendraswamy revealed plans for further enhancements, including focused programs on personality development and quality English language learning for all students. His ultimate goal is clear: once all elements are fully implemented, every government school in his constituency will stand equal to any well-established private school, offering a compelling and high-quality alternative for families.
