33,000 Scouts Gather for National Jamboree in Lucknow

Lucknow witnessed a spectacular gathering of young talent as Governor Anandiben Patel inaugurated the 19th National Jamboree of Bharat Scouts and Guides at the Defence Expo Ground on Monday. The event marks a significant milestone as it celebrates the Diamond Jubilee year of the organization.

A Platform for Youth Development

Governor Patel emphasized that the jamboree represents much more than just a festival. This gathering serves as an exceptional platform for children to learn, share experiences, and display their unique talents. She described the event as a powerful symbol of India's unity and diversity that significantly boosts children's self-confidence while developing their personalities.

"Your energy fills me with pride," the Governor told the enthusiastic participants. "Seeing your performance brings me immense happiness; it makes me feel youthful again. The Scouts and Guides movement plays a crucial role in instilling values such as service, leadership, discipline, and patriotism among young people."

Historic Gathering After Six Decades

The current jamboree holds special significance for Uttar Pradesh as the state hosts this prestigious event after 61 years. Governor Patel highlighted this as a matter of great pride and evidence of Uttar Pradesh's growing capability to host national and international events.

More than 33,000 Scouts and Guides from across India and overseas are participating in this massive gathering. The Governor recalled her own experience with scouting, noting how the movement shapes young individuals into character-driven, dutiful, compassionate, and resolute citizens.

Diamond Jubilee Celebrations and Environmental Focus

The event commemorates 75 glorious years of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, with organizers releasing a special commemorative coin and postage stamp to mark the Diamond Jubilee occasion. The ceremony featured a flag hoisting ceremony, jamboree parade inspection, and captivating performances by participating states and international delegations.

Governor Patel praised the Bharat Scouts and Guides as the world's largest voluntary, non-political, uniformed youth organization that consistently promotes service, discipline, and humanity. She specifically acknowledged their valuable contributions during the Covid-19 pandemic, natural disasters, traffic management, and environmental conservation efforts.

Highlighting the importance of environmental protection, she urged the youth to take a leading role in preserving nature and emphasized their critical role in realizing the vision of a developed India by 2047.

The ceremony attracted numerous dignitaries including Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, Bharat Scouts and Guides President Anil Kumar Jain, World Scout Committee Chairman Daniel Carso, and State Chief Commissioner Mahendra Singh. Delegates and parents appreciated the exceptional arrangements and meticulous preparations that created an atmosphere filled with cultural vibrancy and patriotic fervor.
