Advocate Makes Generous Donation to Alma Mater and Other Schools in Mysuru
In a heartwarming gesture of giving back to the community, advocate HN Venkatesh on Saturday donated Rs 1 lakh and a desktop computer to his alma mater, a government primary school located in Hindagudlu village, Hunsur taluk, Mysuru district.
Extending Support to Multiple Educational Institutions
Venkatesh did not stop at his own school. He also provided computers to three other government primary and high schools within the Kiranguru education cluster, significantly boosting their technological resources.
The handover ceremony was graced by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) P Shivaraj, who formally presented the computers to Hindagudlu Government School, Dasanapura Government School, and Doddahejjuru Government School.
Officials Emphasize Alumni Role in School Development
ADC Shivaraj used the occasion to stress a crucial message. He emphasized the importance of never forgetting one's primary school and birthplace. He stated that government schools would see substantial development if alumni actively contributed to their alma maters. Shivaraj also acknowledged the valuable cooperation of the local villagers in supporting educational initiatives.
Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) D Uday Kumar highlighted the potential of rural children. He asserted that with proper guidance and dedicated training from teachers, students from rural areas can become excellent citizens. He cited the example of many individuals from Hindagudlu village who are now successfully working in various fields, including the education sector itself.
Inspired by Family Legacy of Service
Explaining his motivation, advocate Venkatesh shared a personal connection to the village. He revealed that his father was born in Hindagudlu and served as a teacher, dedicating his life to educating others. Coming from such a family with a deep-rooted commitment to education, Venkatesh felt a strong sense of duty to give back to his birthplace and support its schools.
Pledge for Sports Equipment
The event also inspired further generosity. On the same occasion, another advocate, MD Harish Kumar Hegde, stepped forward and pledged to donate Rs 51,000 specifically for the purchase of sports equipment for Hindagudlu Government School. This additional contribution aims to support the holistic development and physical well-being of the students.
This collective effort by alumni and community members underscores a growing recognition of the vital role that former students and local benefactors play in strengthening government schools, particularly in rural areas, by providing both financial aid and essential infrastructure like computers.
