Division-Wise Results and Statistical Insights

Among the candidates, 85,189 students secured first division, 1,50,167 obtained second division, and 46,345 passed in third division. ASSEB chairperson RC Jain highlighted an encouraging trend, noting a gradual decline in third-division passes and an increase in first- and second-division numbers. Additionally, 3,983 students scored distinction marks with 510 and above, while 13,681 candidates secured star marks by scoring between 450 and 509.

District-Wise Performance Analysis

District-wise, Dima Hasao retained the top position with a pass percentage of 88.23%, followed by Sivasagar at 84.08% and Dibrugarh at 78.46%. Conversely, Cachar recorded the lowest pass percentage at 49.13%. Education Minister Ranoj Pegu expressed optimism about the overall rise but noted declines in previously top-performing districts like Majuli and Nalbari, stating that reasons would be examined. He emphasized that Cachar and Dhubri remain low-performing and require special attention from the education department.

Community and Special Group Outcomes

Pegu also shared encouraging data for specific student groups. The pass percentage among Scheduled Caste students stood at 59.82%, while tea garden areas recorded 50.52%. He attributed these positive outcomes to government efforts to improve education quality, particularly in underserved areas like tea gardens. Community-wise, pass percentages for OBC, MOBC, ST (Plain), and ST (Hills) students were above the state average.

Reactions from State Leadership

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extended his congratulations via a social media post, stating, "Heartiest congratulations to all students who passed the HSLC Examination 2026. May this milestone open new opportunities ahead." He also offered encouragement to those who did not achieve expected results, adding, "To those who did not get the expected results, stay determined. With hard work and perseverance, you will surely succeed. My best wishes always."

The announcement marks a significant moment for Assam's education sector, showcasing progress while highlighting areas needing further improvement to ensure equitable outcomes across all districts and communities.
