14-Year-Old Girl Loses Vision in Right Eye in Banda School Gilli-Danda Accident
Banda School Accident: Girl Loses Eye Vision, Case Filed

A tragic accident at a primary school in Uttar Pradesh's Banda district has left a 14-year-old student permanently blinded in her right eye. The incident, which occurred on school premises, has led to a police case against the institution's principal and sparked separate inquiries by the education department.

How the Tragic School Accident Unfolded

The unfortunate event took place on December 20. According to allegations from the girl's family members, students were playing the traditional game of gilli-danda within the school compound. During the play, a stick reportedly slipped from the hand of the school principal and struck the young girl directly in her eye, causing severe and irreversible damage.

The injured student was immediately rushed to Janki Kund Chitrakoot for medical attention. Despite efforts by doctors, the vision in her right eye could not be saved. The injury proved too severe for treatment at the initial facility.

Police Case and Allegations of Threats

Following the medical emergency, the situation escalated due to the principal's alleged conduct. The victim's father claimed that instead of accepting responsibility and offering support, the principal resorted to hurling abuses and even issued threats to kill him. This prompted the aggrieved father to file a formal complaint at the local police station.

Acting on the complaint, Kamasin police station in-charge Bhaskar Mishra confirmed that a report has been officially registered against the principal. "The student has been sent to an eye surgeon for a detailed medical examination," stated Mishra. He further added, "If the medical report reveals the severity of the injury, additional and more stringent legal sections will be added to the case."

Education Department Launches Parallel Inquiry

The education authorities have also stepped in. Basic education officer Avyakt Ram Tiwari announced that a separate departmental investigation has been initiated. "The investigation has been assigned to BEO Kamasin Rajesh Kumar," Tiwari said. He made it clear that the principal would face serious consequences if the allegations are proven true. "If the allegations are found true in the investigation, the principal will be suspended," Tiwari affirmed.

The case highlights critical concerns about safety and accountability on school premises. As the police and education department probes continue, the family seeks justice for the life-altering injury suffered by the young student.
