The order, issued by District Collector Jasmeet Singh Sandhu, mandates a break on January 9 and 10 for all students from Classes 1 to 5 across government and private institutions in the district.

The directive comes as a direct response to official warnings from the weather department and the sustained spell of severe cold gripping the region. Bhilwara has been experiencing intense cold wave conditions for over a week, with temperatures plummeting steadily. Dense fog has also become a persistent issue, severely disrupting normal daily life and posing health risks, especially to younger children.
This decision follows the recent conclusion of winter vacations, with schools having reopened just days earlier on January 6. The unrelenting cold and freezing temperatures, however, prompted the administration to step in and grant specific relief to primary-level students.
Strict Compliance and Staff Attendance Mandated
Collector Jasmeet Singh Sandhu issued a stern warning to educational institutions, stating that strict action will be taken against any school found violating this order. Such action will be initiated under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, highlighting the seriousness with which the administration views the potential threat posed by the weather.
However, the holiday applies only to students. School staff, including teachers and administrative personnel, have been directed to report for duty as usual and mark their attendance during this two-day period.
