Bihar Diwas Showcases Blueprint for Modern Government Schooling
The second day of the 114th Bihar Diwas celebrations at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Monday was marked by a transformative display from the state's education department. The 'Model School' exhibit presented a comprehensive blueprint for modern government schooling, aligned with the vision of "Unnat Bihar, Ujjwal Bihar" (Developed Bihar, Bright Bihar). This initiative aims to revolutionize educational infrastructure and pedagogy across the state.
Innovative Educational Facilities on Display
The pavilion featured live demonstrations of fully functional school facilities, providing a tangible glimpse into the future of education in Bihar. Key components included a principal's office, a Nipun room, and specialized spaces dedicated to information and communication technology (ICT), robotics, and science. Technical innovations took center stage, with a robotic dog designed for security identification and life-saving technologies from the Atal Tinkering Lab, such as systems for monitoring medicine expiration dates.
Kamalnath Jha, a senior official from the education department, emphasized the purpose of these displays. "These exhibitions are being conducted so that the public can understand how to incorporate all of these advanced facilities and significantly improve the quality of education throughout the state," he stated. The department highlighted its commitment to inclusive and experimental learning through project-based models and "Bal Vatika" displays for young learners.
Inclusive Learning and Social Awareness
Educational tools crafted from scrap materials, under the theme "Kabaad se Jugaad" (Innovation from Waste), were showcased alongside play-based learning stations for primary students. Specialized support models for children with Special Learning Disabilities were also demonstrated, underscoring a focus on accessibility. Complementing the academic exhibits, a series of street plays directed by Vinay Kumar addressed critical social issues, including road safety and environmental sanitation, engaging visitors with impactful messages.
Cultural Performances Enrich the Celebrations
The cultural dimension of Bihar Diwas was vibrant, with the education department organizing the staging of the play "Vaijayanti" at Rabindra Bhawan in Patna. Performed by Praveen Sanskritik Manch, the play was written by Jagdish Prasad Singh and directed by Vijayendra Kumar Tank. Adapted from the collection Natya Manjari, the narrative explores the life of Lord Krishna, delving into episodes like the Gopi Leela and the Mahabharata war.
Rather than employing a traditional narrator, the script utilizes the character Janamejaya to examine Krishna's divine and human dimensions. The production seamlessly integrated modern and folk styles, enhanced by digital effects, music, and lighting. The cast featured Vivek Kumar Mishra as Krishna and Rahul Kumar as Janamejaya, supported by a skilled technical team including Vinay Kumar on lighting and Rohit Chandra on music.
Additional cultural events included traditional folk melodies and classical renditions at the performing arts stage. The evening featured devotional bhajans, Chhath songs, and Chaiti performances, culminating in a rendition of the Bihar Geet. Parallel events across the city included a dance drama at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall and a poetry symposium at Rabindra Bhawan, with a grand musical performance by singer Shaan at Gandhi Maidan.
Health Camps Provide Essential Services
In a significant health initiative, a camp organized by the State Health Society offered medical services to thousands of visitors over three days. Services included screenings for blood pressure, sugar, and cancer, alongside ECG services and physiotherapy. Data from the first two days revealed that approximately 700 individuals received eye examinations and corrective eyewear.
Medical officials reported that out of 200 ECGs conducted, nearly half showed signs of cardiac issues, prompting immediate digital consultations with specialists. The health camp also facilitated the creation of 1,000 Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA) and the issuance of over 200 Ayushman cards, ensuring continued access to digital health records and insurance benefits for beneficiaries.
The 114th Bihar Diwas celebrations thus served as a multifaceted platform, blending educational innovation, cultural heritage, and public health initiatives to showcase the state's progress and future aspirations under the "Unnat Bihar, Ujjwal Bihar" vision.
