Bihar Authorities Crack Down on Coaching Institutes for Enhanced Student Safety

In a significant move to bolster student welfare, District Magistrate Thiyagarajan S M presided over a crucial meeting in Patna focused on the rigorous implementation of the Bihar Coaching Institutes Act, 2010. The gathering brought together key officials and representatives from various coaching centers to deliberate on mandatory compliance measures aimed at ensuring a secure and conducive learning environment.

Key Mandates Unveiled for Coaching Operators

According to an official statement released by the District Magistrate, several stringent requirements have been outlined for all coaching institutes operating within the state. Valid registration is now compulsory, with operators required to submit applications for new registrations or renewals within a strict ten-day window. Additionally, facilities must adhere to spatial norms, providing a minimum of one square metre of space per student to prevent overcrowding and ensure comfort.

Safety protocols have been significantly tightened, with unobstructed exit routes and comprehensive fire safety and disaster management norms made mandatory. To enhance security and accountability, institutes are required to install high-resolution CCTV systems that maintain a minimum backup of 30 days, allowing for thorough monitoring and review of activities.

Enhanced Monitoring and Compliance Mechanisms

Authorities have introduced robust mechanisms to enforce these regulations effectively. Local police stations will be tasked with maintaining detailed records of all coaching institutes in their jurisdictions, facilitating easier oversight and coordination. Furthermore, coaching centers must implement complaint boxes to address grievances promptly and notify parents immediately in cases of student absences, fostering better communication and responsibility.

Emergency contact numbers must be prominently displayed on premises to ensure quick access during crises. To uphold these standards, regular inspections will be conducted by authorities, with penalties imposed for any violations, underscoring the commitment to student safety and regulatory adherence.

This proactive initiative reflects Bihar's dedication to creating a safer educational landscape, aligning with broader efforts to protect students from potential hazards and improve the quality of coaching services across the region.
