Bihar's Month-Long School Enrollment Drive for 2026-27

Bihar Education Department Launches Intensive Enrollment Campaign

The Bihar state education department has officially commenced a month-long enrollment drive, strategically designed to guarantee age-appropriate admission for every child between 6 and 14 years of age for the upcoming 2026-27 academic session. This ambitious campaign is a concerted effort to achieve full school enrollment across the state through a multi-faceted approach.

Statewide Mobilization and Strategic Oversight

Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, B Rajender, has issued directives to all 38 district magistrates, mandating their direct oversight of the enrollment drive throughout Bihar. This top-down administrative push ensures coordinated implementation at every level of governance.

Grassroots Implementation Through Collaborative Teams

Under the meticulously crafted plan, headmasters are tasked with assigning specific enrollment duties to teachers. These educators will not work in isolation; they will form collaborative teams with school education committee chairpersons, anganwadi workers and their helpers, vikas mitras, and tola sevaks. These teams will conduct systematic household visits in their designated areas to identify and enroll eligible children.

Streamlined Admission for Anganwadi Graduates

For children who have been enrolled at anganwadi centres and have now reached the age of six, the process is streamlined. Anganwadi workers will coordinate directly with headmasters to fix specific enrollment dates and inform parents well in advance, facilitating a smooth transition into formal schooling within their feeder areas.

Targeted Household Surveys for Unregistered Children

Recognizing that not all children are part of the anganwadi system, the campaign includes a critical component: comprehensive household surveys. These surveys aim to identify children aged 6-14 who are not registered anywhere, ensuring they are brought into the formal school education system, leaving no child behind.

Multi-Platform Awareness and Festive Welcome

To maximize outreach and community engagement, the Bihar government will leverage its official social media platforms for widespread awareness campaigns. Furthermore, schools have received explicit instructions to assist parents in arranging all necessary documents for admission. In a bid to create a welcoming atmosphere, schools are encouraged to greet families in a festive manner, which may include decorating entrances with rangoli and other celebratory elements.

Rigorous Verification and Accountability Measures

Following the conclusion of the month-long campaign, a strict verification protocol will be enforced. Each headmaster must submit a formal certificate to their respective block education officer. This certificate must confirm that no child within the school's feeder area remains unenrolled. Block-level officials will then compile detailed, school-wise enrollment reports and forward formal declarations to the district authorities, ensuring accountability and accurate record-keeping for the 2026-27 session.
