Tragic Accident Claims BITS Pilani Student's Life on Goa Highway

A devastating road accident near Zuarinagar, Sancoale, in Goa has resulted in the tragic death of a student from the prestigious Birla Institute of Science and Technology (BITS) Pilani, KK Birla Goa campus. The incident occurred on Saturday evening when the motorcycle carrying two students collided with an empty fuel tanker on the four-lane highway.

Details of the Fatal Collision

The accident was reported at approximately 6:30 PM. The deceased has been identified as Karan Narsimha Murthy, aged 25, a student of BITS Pilani. He was traveling from the campus towards Queeny Nagar, Sancoale, along with his friend, Sohan Adhikari, also 25, who was riding pillion.

As they reached the area opposite the petroleum storage tanks at Zuarinagar, their motorcycle rammed into an empty fuel tanker that was entering the petroleum terminus. Despite wearing a helmet, Murthy sustained grievous injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Critical Condition of the Second Student

Sohan Adhikari, the pillion rider, also suffered severe injuries in the collision. He was immediately rushed to the Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim, where he remains in a critical state. Medical authorities are providing intensive care, but his condition is reported to be serious.

Local law enforcement has launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. The case is being handled under the supervision of Police Inspector Anand Shirodkar.
