CBSE Class 10 Results Highlight Gender and Regional Performance Trends

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the Class 10 examination results for the current academic year, revealing significant trends in student performance. The data shows a clear pattern where female students have outperformed their male counterparts, while regions in South India have emerged as top performers in terms of pass rates.

Girls Achieve Higher Pass Percentage Than Boys

In a notable development, girls have secured a pass rate of 94.99% in the CBSE Class 10 exams, surpassing boys who recorded a pass rate of 92.6%. This gender-based performance gap highlights the consistent academic excellence demonstrated by female students in the board examinations.

Overall Pass Rate Shows Slight Improvement

The overall pass percentage for CBSE Class 10 exams stands at 93.70%, which is marginally higher than last year's figure of 93.66%. This indicates a stable and slightly improving trend in student outcomes across the board.

South Indian Regions Dominate in Performance

Geographically, South Indian regions have led the way in academic performance. Areas such as Thiruvananthapuram and Vijayawada achieved an impressive pass rate of 99.79%, closely followed by Chennai with a pass rate of 99.58%. These results underscore the strong educational infrastructure and student preparedness in these regions.

Changes in Examination Format

CBSE introduced a dual-examination format for Class 10 this year, with the first phase conducted in February-March and an optional second phase in May. This new structure aims to provide flexibility and reduce stress for students, allowing them to improve their scores if desired.

Continuation of No Merit List Policy

In line with its policy established in 2020, CBSE has continued to refrain from declaring a merit list to avoid fostering unhealthy competition among students. Instead, the board awards merit certificates to the top 0.1% of students, recognizing their exceptional performance without creating a hierarchical ranking system.
