DDCET Exam Schedule Revised in Gujarat Due to Local Body Elections
The Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) in Gujarat has announced a significant revision to the Diploma to Degree Common Entrance Test (DDCET) schedule. This change comes as a direct response to the upcoming local body elections in the state, which were set to clash with the original exam date.
New Exam Dates and Phases
Initially planned for a single day on April 26, the DDCET will now be conducted in two distinct phases. The entrance test for diploma to degree (D2D) engineering courses has been rescheduled to May 5, while the test for D2D pharmacy courses will take place on May 9. This split aims to avoid conflicts with the polling day, ensuring students can participate in both the electoral process and their academic assessments without inconvenience.
Background and Registration Details
The online registration for these courses was open from February 9 to March 30, attracting a total of 21,707 applicants for engineering admissions and 339 candidates for pharmacy courses. The admission process covers a substantial number of seats—36,212 across 139 institutions, including 16 government colleges, three grant-in-aid colleges, and 120 self-financed colleges in Gujarat.
Reasons for the Rescheduling
The decision to postpone the exams was made after the announcement of local body elections created a scheduling conflict. Authorities recognized that holding the entrance tests on the same day as voting would pose significant challenges for students. By moving the dates, the ACPC aims to prioritize student welfare and academic fairness.
Additionally, the pharmacy exam date of May 9 was specifically chosen to accommodate diploma pharmacy students, whose final exams are scheduled until May 8. This careful planning ensures that students do not face overlapping exam commitments, reducing stress and promoting better performance.
Updated Timeline for Post-Exam Activities
With the revised schedule, subsequent activities have also been adjusted. The answer key for the engineering exam will be released on May 6, followed by a grievance submission window from May 6 to May 11. The final answer key is set to be published on May 20, providing clarity and transparency in the evaluation process.
This rescheduling underscores the ACPC's commitment to facilitating a smooth and equitable admission process for all aspiring students in Gujarat's professional courses.
