Delhi Government Schools Shine in CBSE Class X Results with 97.23% Pass Percentage
In a remarkable achievement, Delhi government schools have demonstrated exceptional performance in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class X results declared on Wednesday. The schools recorded an impressive pass percentage of 97.23%, marking a significant rise of 2.59 percentage points from the previous year's 94.64%. This performance notably surpassed the national average of 93.7%, highlighting the effectiveness of educational reforms in the capital.
Significant Improvements Across the School System
The results reveal substantial progress across Delhi's government school network. The number of schools achieving a perfect 100% pass rate increased sharply by 52%, from 300 last year to 457 this year. Furthermore, schools with over 90% results saw an even more dramatic jump, rising by 75% from 529 to 924. This indicates a broader and more consistent improvement across the entire system, rather than isolated successes in select institutions.
Girls Outperform Boys in Examination Results
Mirroring national trends, girls in Delhi government schools outperformed boys in the CBSE Class X exams. Girls recorded a pass percentage of 97.37%, compared to 97.09% for boys. Out of the total 1,88,460 students who appeared for the examination, 1,83,246 successfully cleared it, reflecting high overall achievement levels.
Among high scorers, the distribution was as follows:
- 26 students secured 95% and above
- 540 students scored between 90% and 95%
- 5,202 students achieved marks in the 80% to 90% range
Government Initiatives Driving Educational Excellence
Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood congratulated students, teachers, and parents, attributing the outstanding results to sustained systemic improvements. He emphasized that the gains were visible across the entire network of government schools, not limited to a few high-performing institutions. “Learning outcomes across government schools have shown consistent and measurable improvement, reflecting the depth of this transformation,” Sood stated.
Highlighting the performance of girls, Sood reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring that access is never a barrier to education. He pointed to a Rs 90 crore provision to provide free bicycles to approximately 1.3 lakh girls in Class IX, aimed at improving access and retention rates.
Investments in Infrastructure and Digital Learning
Sood explained that such results are built over time through strategic investments in infrastructure and learning environments. “This year, 9,000 smart classrooms have been set up, with a larger target of 21,000, along with 175 modern computer labs and 125 digitised libraries. The aim is to ensure equitable access to technology for all students,” he said.
The Delhi government also highlighted the role of 75 CM SHRI Schools, which are being developed as model institutions with upgraded infrastructure and a stronger focus on future-ready learning. These schools are being equipped with advanced facilities such as:
- AI-enabled language labs
- Career guidance labs
- Improved digital classrooms
These initiatives support skill-based and experiential education, moving beyond a purely exam-centric approach to foster holistic development.
Sustained Funding and Future Focus
Backed by an education budget of Rs 19,148 crore, the government continues to invest in infrastructure, digital access, and teacher support systems. According to officials, the focus remains on creating equitable learning environments that strengthen student confidence, build capability, and support overall development across the school system.
The comprehensive approach—combining financial investment, technological integration, and targeted programs—has positioned Delhi government schools as leaders in educational excellence, setting a benchmark for other regions to follow.
