A deeply disturbed 16-year-old student from a private school in Delhi made a heartbreaking plea moments before ending his life at Rajendra Place Metro Station on Tuesday, November 18. The Class 10 student, who was preparing for his board exams, asked a co-passenger to withdraw her son from the same school, claiming teachers "tortured" him repeatedly.
According to eyewitness Deepshikha, who was sharing an auto-rickshaw with the boy that fateful afternoon, the student appeared extremely agitated when he hurriedly boarded the vehicle. "He kept telling the driver to go faster. He looked very disturbed," she recalled in her statement to ANI.
Student's Harrowing Account of School Harassment
When Deepshikha asked what was troubling him, the teenager delivered his chilling warning about the school. "My board exams are coming up, and the teachers torture me a lot. I can't even explain how much. My parents are called to school again and again," the 16-year-old confessed to the woman.
The tragic incident occurred at 2:34 pm on Tuesday, November 18, when the student jumped from the platform at Rajendra Place Metro Station in central Delhi. Authorities confirmed he left behind a suicide note specifically accusing his school teachers of harassment and demanding strict action against them.
Immediate Fallout and Government Response
The incident has triggered widespread outrage among parents and students, who have been protesting outside the private school demanding accountability. In response to the growing crisis, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood announced the formation of an investigation committee.
"We have formed an investigation committee, and the school has also taken action. I see this not only as the Education Minister but also as a concerned parent," Sood stated. The minister further emphasized his commitment to student mental health, noting he would write to schools to ensure they are monitoring students' well-being according to CBSE guidelines.
The private institution has suspended four teachers in connection with the case, while the Delhi government has promised to provide support and handholding to educational institutions struggling with mental health implementation.
