Lucknow: Major Dhyan Chand Sports University in Meerut has commenced the online registration process for admissions to various undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma programs for the academic session 2026-27. Interested candidates can apply through the university’s official website until July 10.
With this, athletes and youth aspiring to build professional careers in the sports sector will have new opportunities. From this academic session, the university will offer admissions to the three-year Bachelor of Physical Education and Sports (BPES) program and the BSc Yoga program, along with the two-year MSc Yoga course. Additionally, a one-year PG Diploma in Sports Journalism and Mass Communication has been introduced to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in sports media.
The intake capacity has been fixed at 50 seats for BPES, 40 for BSc Yoga, 20 for MSc Yoga, and 15 for the diploma program. Under the School of Coaching, seven one-year PG diploma courses will also be launched in disciplines such as athletics, badminton, boxing, hockey, kabaddi, wrestling, and yoga, each accommodating 15 students.
Furthermore, the university has decided to grant direct admission to outstanding sportspersons who have represented India at international events. Medal winners of national-level competitions will also receive special consideration. Moreover, an additional 10% of seats will be reserved for meritorious athletes across all programs.
Admissions will be based on a fitness test combined with Class 12 performance. The university aims to promote the holistic development of sportspersons while working towards establishing Uttar Pradesh as a leading sports hub in the country, said a government spokesperson.
