A sudden fire, triggered by an electrical short circuit, erupted on Saturday morning at the Government OBC girls residential +2 high school located in the Athmagola area of Barh subdivision, Patna. The incident caused significant panic among the students.
Emergency Response and Rescue
Upon receiving the alarm, fire tenders were swiftly dispatched to the location. The firefighting teams acted promptly and managed to bring the blaze under control without major damage to the property. In the ensuing chaos, eight students fainted, overwhelmed by fear and the frantic situation.
Medical Attention and Official Statement
All the affected students were safely rescued from the premises. They were initially rushed to the Athmagola Community Health Centre for primary medical care. Subsequently, for more thorough examination and treatment, they were referred to the Barh Sub-divisional Hospital. The school principal, Vibha Kumari, addressed the incident, stating that the fire itself was minor and attributing the fainting episodes solely to the panic that spread among the students.
This event has raised concerns about electrical safety protocols in educational institutions, especially residential schools housing a large number of students.
