Ghaziabad & Noida Extend School Closures Till Jan 15 Amid Cold Wave
Ghaziabad, Noida Schools Extend Closures Till Jan 15

In response to the ongoing severe cold wave conditions, the district administrations of Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida) have officially extended their earlier directives concerning school operations. The initial orders, which were valid until January 10, have now been prolonged until January 15 as a precautionary measure to safeguard students from the harsh weather.

Ghaziabad Implements Revised School Timings

The Ghaziabad district magistrate has issued specific instructions for all private schools in the district. The order applies to institutions affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, UP Board, and other educational boards, covering classes from Nursery up to Class 12. These schools will continue to function with revised daily timings, operating from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM until further notice.

This decision was taken in light of the extreme cold conditions persisting in the region. The district administration has mandated all principals and headmasters to ensure strict adherence to the modified schedule. The primary objective is to minimize the exposure of children to the biting cold during the early morning hours.

Gautam Buddh Nagar Orders Closure for Younger Students

In the neighbouring district of Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida), the directive takes a more stringent approach for younger children. The District Magistrate has ordered that all schools, from Nursery to Class 8, shall remain closed until January 15. This closure applies to schools affiliated with all boards, including CBSE, ICSE, IB, and the UP Board.

The extension has been attributed to persistent dense fog and severe cold, which raise significant safety concerns for the well-being of young students commuting to and from school. The administration emphasized that the step is a necessary precaution against the health risks posed by the prevailing weather.

Administrations Cite Safety, Await Further Weather Review

Officials from both districts clarified that the extension of the orders is purely a precautionary measure designed to protect students from the potentially harmful effects of the cold wave and low visibility due to fog. The well-being of children remains the top priority.

The authorities have also stated that any further decisions regarding school operations beyond January 15 will be contingent upon the latest weather forecasts and ground conditions in the coming days. Parents and school administrations are advised to stay updated through official channels for any new announcements.
