Girls Surpass Boys in Bihar's CBSE Class X Board Exam Performance
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the Class X (session-1) board exam results for Bihar on Wednesday, revealing a notable trend where girls outperformed boys in academic achievement. The Patna zone, which encompasses the entire state of Bihar, recorded an overall pass percentage of 89.33, marking a slight decline of 2.57% from the 2025 figure of 91.90. This dip highlights shifting dynamics in student performance across the region.
Gender-Wise Performance and Registration Details
In a significant development, the pass percentage for girls stood at 90.49, while boys achieved 88.60, underscoring a clear lead for female students. From Bihar, a total of 1,81,401 students registered for the exam, comprising 1,12,290 boys and 69,111 girls. Of these, 1,79,418 candidates appeared, including 1,10,933 boys and 68,485 girls. Ultimately, 1,60,275 students cleared the examination, with 98,304 boys and 61,971 girls succeeding.
Institutional Highlights and Top Performers
Kendriya Vidyalaya led the charts in the Patna zone with an impressive 99.6% pass percentage, closely followed by Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) at 99.29. A total of 452 students scored above 90%, and 91 students crossed the 95% mark, showcasing exceptional academic prowess. However, this year saw 1.47 lakh students placed in the compartment category, an increase from 1.41 lakh in 2025, indicating areas for improvement.
Several schools in Patna reported outstanding results. Doyal Prabha of DAV Public School, Khagaul, emerged as the school topper with 99.6% marks, receiving congratulations from the principal, teachers, and peers. At St Michael’s High School, Patna, 352 out of 356 candidates passed, with topper Abhishek Mishra scoring 98.2%, followed by Ekaansh Shrisay at 97.2%, and Aishwarya Anmol and Divyansh Raj at 97%. The school celebrated 130 students scoring above 90%.
St Karen’s School achieved a perfect 100% pass rate, with Priyanshu topping at 98.4%, Prabha Jha securing second place with 98.2%, and Anurag Bharti in third with 97.8%. Principal Seema Singh noted that 87 students scored between 90% and 100%, and 21 students scored above 80%. Similarly, RPS Girls Public School reported a strong performance, with Shambhavi Pandey leading at 96%, Shraddha Shri second at 92%, and Vaishnavi Kumari third at 91%. The school highlighted 21 girls scoring above 80%, bringing accolades to the institution.

CBSE officials emphasized that while Kendriya Vidyalayas maintained top positions, government schools showed improved overall performance.
