Gujarat GujCET 2024: Massive Turnout Expected for Engineering and Pharmacy Entrance Exam

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) is gearing up to conduct the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GujCET) this Sunday, a pivotal examination for admissions into engineering and pharmacy courses across the state. With extensive preparations finalized, the exam is set to unfold in three distinct phases, spanning from 9.30 am to 5.05 pm, ensuring a streamlined process for all participants.

Record Registrations and Demographic Insights

This year, the GujCET has witnessed an impressive registration of 1,35,875 students, highlighting its significance in the academic calendar. The breakdown reveals that 79,750 candidates are from the Gujarati medium, 55,019 from the English medium, and 1,106 from the Hindi medium. In terms of gender distribution, male candidates lead with 73,150 registrations, while female candidates account for 62,725, continuing a trend of higher male participation in these fields.

Comprehensive Exam Infrastructure and Security Measures

To facilitate this large-scale event, the exam will be administered across 34 zones, encompassing 668 centers and 6,857 blocks. Emphasizing transparency and integrity, all centers have been equipped with advanced CCTV surveillance systems and rigorous monitoring protocols to prevent any instances of malpractice, ensuring a fair testing environment for every student.

Group-Wise Analysis and Exam Pattern Details

The registration data further categorizes candidates by academic streams:

  • B Group (biology stream): Dominates with 77,074 candidates, the highest among all groups.
  • A Group (mathematics stream): Follows with 58,406 students.
  • AB Group (both streams): Includes 395 students opting for a combined approach.

As per the established exam pattern, A and B Group students will each face three papers, while AB Group candidates will tackle four papers, reflecting the diverse academic pathways in engineering and pharmacy.

Detailed Exam Schedule and Marking Scheme

The GujCET schedule is meticulously planned to accommodate all groups efficiently:

  1. 9.30 am to 12.05 pm: Combined physics and chemistry paper, mandatory for all candidates, carrying 80 marks.
  2. 1.10 pm to 2.45 pm: Biology paper, exclusively for B and AB Group students, with 40 marks.
  3. 3.30 pm to 5.05 pm: Mathematics paper, for A and AB Group candidates, also valued at 40 marks.

Question papers will be available in Gujarati, Hindi, and English mediums, catering to the linguistic diversity of the student body. Authorities have confirmed that all logistical and administrative arrangements are in place to guarantee a smooth and orderly conduct of the exam throughout Gujarat.
