Gujarat's Teacher Aptitude Test for Higher Secondary to be Held on Sunday
The Gujarat State Examination Board is set to conduct the Teacher Aptitude Test for Higher Secondary (TAT-HS) this Sunday, marking a significant step in the state's educational reforms. A total of 1.65 lakh candidates have successfully registered across Gujarat, highlighting the high demand for teaching positions in higher secondary schools.
Exam Details and Structure
The TAT-HS exam was originally scheduled for March 29 but was postponed to avoid a clash with the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GujCET). This rescheduling ensures that candidates can focus on each exam without conflicts, maintaining fairness in the assessment process.
Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the Mission Schools of Excellence initiative, the TAT-HS aims to enhance the quality of education by rigorously evaluating teaching aptitude through a two-tier exam system. The preliminary exam will be a multiple-choice question (MCQ) based test totaling 200 marks, divided into two distinct sections.
The first section, worth 100 marks, is common for all candidates and assesses general teaching competencies. The second section, also of 100 marks, is subject-specific, tailored to the candidates' academic specializations. The exam duration is set at 180 minutes, with a negative marking scheme of 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer, encouraging accuracy and thorough preparation.
Registration and Logistics
The registration process for aspiring higher secondary teachers was conducted online from February 10 to February 19, with an extension provided to accommodate late applicants. By the close of the registration period, a total of 165,024 candidates had applied, demonstrating strong interest in teaching roles across the state.
The exam will be administered at 862 centers spread across six key districts: Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Rajkot, Surat, and Vadodara. This wide distribution ensures accessibility for candidates from various regions, facilitating a smooth and organized testing environment.
Subject Coverage and Mediums
Reflecting the diverse academic needs of higher secondary education in Gujarat, the TAT-HS will cover 41 subjects across three mediums: Gujarati, English, and Hindi. This comprehensive approach ensures that the exam caters to the linguistic and curricular diversity of the state's educational landscape, promoting inclusivity and alignment with local requirements.
