Hubballi Schools Launch Intensive Door-to-Door Campaign to Boost 2026-27 Admissions
In a significant move to enhance student enrolment, government schools across the Hubballi district have launched an extensive door-to-door campaign targeting the 2026-27 academic year. This proactive initiative involves teachers personally visiting neighbourhoods to create awareness about available facilities, welfare schemes, and new educational programs.
Current Enrolment Statistics and Outreach Goals
According to official data, the district currently has 3,13,935 students enrolled in Classes 1 to 10 across all institutions, including private and aided schools. Of this total, 1,23,184 students are studying at 847 government schools. Education officials emphasize that such outreach efforts are crucial for strengthening the government school system and ensuring equitable access to quality education for all children.
Bilingual Education Expansion and Early Childhood Initiatives
A key component of the campaign is promoting the expansion of bilingual education. Starting from the coming academic year, students will be taught in both Kannada and English, with bilingual classes already introduced in more than 80 government schools across the district. Several additional schools are scheduled to adopt this model in 2026-27.
Furthermore, to curb enrolment in private institutions, more government schools will begin offering LKG and UKG classes. For instance, Govt Higher Primary School in Nekar Colony has taken special initiatives to introduce these early childhood education levels from the current academic year itself.
Innovative Promotional Strategies and Community Engagement
The school has printed attractive pamphlets highlighting available facilities and education quality, which are being distributed through the door-to-door campaign. Promotional materials have also been displayed on shop walls, temple gates, and school premises to maximize visibility.
Yashavanti Narasappanavar, in-charge headmaster of the school, explained that this initiative was driven by the school management to counter declining enrolment in government schools. "Our aim is not only to increase enrolment but also to provide quality education free of cost," she stated. She added that all streets under the school's jurisdiction will be covered in this special drive.
Initial Response and Infrastructure Readiness
The campaign has already shown promising results, with fifteen parents expressing interest and registration for LKG classes beginning. The school boasts a well-equipped building and playground, with only painting work pending, demonstrating readiness to accommodate new students.
District-Wide Coordination and Future Outlook
DDPI Shankmukh Swamy Keladimath confirmed that schools across the district have been instructed to conduct similar enrolment campaigns in their surrounding areas. "More than 80 schools have already adopted the bilingual medium, and we are confident enrolment will improve," he said, highlighting the coordinated effort to revitalize government education in Hubballi.
