Indore's Right to Education Act Admissions for 2025-26 Draw Moderate Response

The admission process under the Right to Education Act for the 2025-26 academic session in Indore district has concluded with a moderate level of interest from applicants. According to official data, the application window, which closed on March 28, received a total of 12,086 applications competing for 9,029 available seats across private schools in the region.

Verification Process and Seat Allocation Details

Out of the total applications submitted, more than 10,000 have been successfully verified and will be considered for the upcoming allotment phase. These seats are distributed among 1,525 private schools throughout Indore district, highlighting the broad reach of the RTE initiative.

Officials have pointed out that the relatively narrow margin between the number of verified applicants and the total available seats could lead to vacancies persisting even after the initial allocation round. This pattern has been observed in previous years, where despite high application numbers, not all seats were ultimately filled.

Transparent Lottery System and Admission Timeline

The allotment of schools will be conducted through a state-level online lottery scheduled for April 2. This digital process is designed to assign schools randomly to eligible students, ensuring fairness and transparency in the selection procedure.

District project coordinator Sanjay Kumar Mishra emphasized that the centralized lottery approach is crucial for maintaining integrity in the admissions process. "The lottery will be conducted centrally to uphold transparency and fairness for all applicants," Mishra stated.

Following the lottery, parents of selected candidates must report to their allotted schools by April 15 to complete the necessary admission formalities. Failure to do so may result in the forfeiture of the allocated seat.

Anticipated Vacancies and Second Round Provisions

Reflecting on last year's outcomes, officials noted that despite over 5,000 seats being allotted, a significant number remained unfilled as many parents did not finalize the admission process. A similar trend is expected this year, particularly in schools where demand continues to be limited.

To address potential vacancies, a second round of allotments will be organized for seats that remain unoccupied after the initial phase. This measure aims to maximize seat utilization and provide additional opportunities for eligible students.

The overall response, while higher than the number of available seats, has not seen a proportionate increase in verified claims, underscoring the challenges in matching applicant interest with actual enrollment commitments.
