Jaipur School Inspection: Six Officials Face Action for Neglecting Enrollment Drive
In a decisive move to ensure the success of the enrollment campaign for the 2026–27 academic session, Director of Secondary Education Sita Ram Jat conducted a surprise inspection of schools across Jaipur district on Friday. The inspection, held on the first day of the drive, revealed significant lapses in adherence to official directives, leading to immediate action against six education officials for negligence and absenteeism.
Violations Uncovered During Inspections
During the inspections in Chaksu, a critical violation was identified at the Govt Senior Secondary School in Bhambhoriya. Despite explicit instructions for all staff to engage in a door-to-door survey to boost student enrollment, the chief block education officer of Sanganer Rural convened a meeting from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. This meeting occupied several school principals, severely disrupting the first half of the admission drive. In response, Director Jat ordered that a formal proposal be submitted to the government, recommending the officer's suspension and the initiation of disciplinary proceedings.
Absenteeism and Lack of Preparation
Further inspections uncovered additional instances of non-compliance. At Govt Senior Secondary School in Vatika, principal Sarika Singhal was found absent as she attended the aforementioned meeting, while her staff remained inadequately briefed about the enrollment campaign. In a separate incident, four teachers from other schools were also marked absent due to being assigned to other duties, undermining the enrollment efforts.
In Kumhariyawas, two panchayat assistants were discovered to have been absent for an extended period, citing Block Level Officer (BLO) duty as a pretext. Director Jat ordered their immediate suspension. Additionally, teacher Giriraj Sahu faced disciplinary action for proceeding on census duty against specific instructions, further highlighting the disregard for the enrollment drive's importance.
Reprimand for Inadequate Planning
At a government school in Titariya, principal Shashibala Sapra was formally reprimanded for failing to develop a concrete and actionable plan for Praveshotsav, the school admission festival. This lack of preparation was deemed a serious oversight, given the critical role of such events in facilitating student enrollment and community engagement.
The surprise inspection underscores the Rajasthan education department's commitment to enforcing accountability and ensuring that enrollment drives are executed with the utmost diligence. By taking swift action against officials found negligent, the department aims to set a precedent for strict adherence to protocols, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness of educational initiatives across the district.
