Jaipur's Mega PTM & Nipun Mela Cancelled Last Minute, New Date Awaited
Jaipur's Mega PTM, Nipun Mela Cancelled Due to Clash

In a sudden move that has left parents and educators surprised, the Rajasthan school education department has called off the major 'Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM)' and 'Nipun Mela' event planned for Tuesday, December 23, 2025. The announcement came late on Sunday, throwing extensive preparations into disarray.

Official Order Points to Unavoidable Circumstances

The department issued an official order on Sunday evening, formally declaring the postponement. The order stated that the events were being put off due to unavoidable circumstances. It assured stakeholders that a new date for the Mega PTM and Nipun Mela would be communicated soon. This last-minute cancellation has sparked discussions about planning and coordination within the department's annual schedule.

Teachers' Association Highlights Scheduling Conflict

According to insights from teachers on the ground, the primary reason for the cancellation is a direct clash with a pre-scheduled teachers' sports meet. Vipin Sharma, president of the Rajasthan Primary and Secondary Teachers' Association, pointed out the lack of foresight. He explained that while the teachers' sports meet on December 23-24 was a fixed annual event marked in the academic calendar, the mega PTM was oddly scheduled for the same time.

"If teachers are not there in schools, then how can the parent-teacher meeting be held? This shows the lack of coordination within the department," Sharma remarked. This conflict in schedules meant that teachers, who are essential for the PTM, would be absent at their respective schools, participating in the sports meet instead.

Purpose of the Events and Future Plans

The Mega PTM was a significant initiative designed to foster a stronger partnership between schools and parents. Its core objectives were to:

  • Effectively communicate students' academic progress and learning levels to parents.
  • Explain the goals of the Nipun Bharat Mission to the parent community.
  • Strengthen the school-parent-community triangle to improve student outcomes.

Anupama Jorwal, the state project director for Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, had earlier emphasized the importance of such innovations. She stated that the Mega PTM was a crucial step in the department's continuous efforts to strengthen school education in Rajasthan.

Meanwhile, the department is now actively working to reschedule the Nipun Mela. There is hope that the chief minister might participate in the event once a new date is finalized, adding to its significance.
