Jharkhand Education Project Council Launches Intensive 21-Day 'School Ruaar 2026' Campaign
In a significant move to bolster educational access, the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) commenced the statewide 'School Ruaar 2026' initiative on Thursday. This comprehensive 21-day drive is strategically designed to reintegrate out-of-school children into the formal education system and substantially curb dropout rates, with a particular emphasis on students in upper grades.
Aligning with National Education Policy and RTE Act Objectives
The campaign is meticulously aligned with the core principles of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act. Its primary objectives encompass achieving universal enrolment, ensuring regular attendance, and facilitating seamless transitions for students as they progress through different educational stages. While Jharkhand has attained near-universal enrolment at the primary level, retaining students in higher classes remains a persistent challenge that this initiative aims to address.
Comprehensive Door-to-Door Outreach Strategy
Under this ambitious program, a robust door-to-door outreach effort will be deployed, involving:
- Teachers and educational staff
- Anganwadi workers
- Community volunteers
- Local representatives and leaders
This collaborative approach will focus on identifying children who have either dropped out, never enrolled, or are impacted by migration and socio-economic hardships. Special attention will be directed towards enrolling children above the age of five and ensuring their uninterrupted educational journey through to secondary education.
Real-Time Monitoring and Technological Integration
The campaign will leverage the e-Vidyavahini system for real-time monitoring and data tracking, enabling authorities to assess progress dynamically and make informed adjustments as needed.
Official Statements Highlight Community Engagement and Targets
Shashi Ranjan, State Project Director of JEPC, emphasized the campaign's broader vision: "Students should feel a sense of excitement and enthusiasm about going to school. Through this campaign, we are strengthening community participation and improving educational facilities so that every child not only enrols but also enjoys learning and completes their education."
Badal Raj, Ranchi District Superintendent of Education, provided encouraging statistics: "The dropout rate in Ranchi, which was around 9% earlier in 2024, has come down to about 3.5% in 2025, and our target this year is to bring it below 1%." This demonstrates tangible progress and sets a clear benchmark for the campaign's success.
Positive Community Response and Parental Support
Parents have expressed strong support for the initiative. Sunita Devi, a resident of Namkum, shared her perspective: "Teachers visiting our homes encourage us to send our children to school regularly. Such campaigns help families understand the importance of education, especially for children who dropped out due to financial difficulties." This feedback underscores the campaign's potential to foster a supportive environment for education at the grassroots level.
The 'School Ruaar 2026' campaign represents a proactive step towards creating a more inclusive and resilient educational framework in Jharkhand, aiming to ensure that every child has the opportunity to pursue and complete their schooling.
