The parents of Nithin Raj R L, a 22-year-old student at Kannur Dental College in Kerala, have made shocking allegations following his death, claiming that repeated emotional harassment by faculty members amounted to murder. Nithin Raj, a native of Uzhamalackal in Puthukulangara, Thiruvananthapuram district, was found critically injured near the medical college block of Kannur Dental College in Anjarakandy on April 10. He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries, with authorities investigating the circumstances of his fall from a building.
In a heart-wrenching statement to the media, Raj's father, Y L Rajan, expressed deep despair over the loss. "They all killed my son. What justice can I expect? I worked hard for his education. We lost everything," he said, highlighting the family's anguish and sense of betrayal.
The family has specifically accused two faculty members of relentless mental harassment. As a result, a case has been registered against Dental Anatomy Department Head M K Ram and Associate Professor K T Sangeetha Nambiar. The charges include abetment of suicide and provisions under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, reflecting the gravity of the allegations.

Rajan further detailed the emotional torment his son endured, alleging that teachers repeatedly told Raj he would fail his exams. "But he was confident that he would clear the exams and complete the course in five years. All of them emotionally shattered him and killed him," he asserted, painting a picture of a promising student driven to despair.
Adding to the family's distress, Rajan noted that there has been no communication from the college authorities in the days following the incident. "He was a student of that college. Not even a word has been said by the authorities. Students there, fearing for their future, are not speaking out. At least one student should speak out for us," he pleaded, calling for solidarity and transparency.

In response to the tragedy, protests erupted at Kannur Dental College on Monday, with KSU leaders organizing a march and staging a dharna.
