KKR & PSP Investments Boost Lighthouse Learning's Growth in India
KKR invests again in Lighthouse Learning for expansion

In a significant move strengthening India's private education landscape, global private equity firm KKR has announced a fresh round of investment in Lighthouse Learning, formerly known as EuroKids International. This investment round also includes new participant PSP Investments, marking continued confidence in the education group's growth trajectory.

Strategic Investment for Educational Expansion

KKR will maintain its majority stake in Lighthouse Learning and continue to play a pivotal role in driving the company's next growth phase, according to an official statement. While the exact financial details of this investment round remain undisclosed, the capital infusion represents a strong endorsement of Lighthouse Learning's market position and future prospects.

The newly acquired funds will be strategically deployed to expand Lighthouse Learning's extensive network of educational institutions. The company plans to grow its K-12 and preschool footprint while simultaneously strengthening its teaching methodologies, technological infrastructure, and operational capabilities across all campuses.

Building on a Legacy of Educational Excellence

KKR is channeling this investment through its Asian Fund IV and other KKR-managed capital vehicles. This follows the firm's initial investment in 2019 when KKR acquired a controlling stake in Lighthouse Learning for approximately $200 million (₹1,475 crore) through its Asian Fund III, securing roughly 90-92% ownership at that time.

Founded in 2001, Lighthouse Learning has established itself as one of India's most trusted education services platforms. The group operates an impressive network of over 1,850 preschools and 60 K-12 schools under multiple renowned brands including EuroKids, Kangaroo Kids, EuroSchool, Billabong High International, Centre Point Group of Schools, and the Heritage group of schools.

Currently, the educational institution serves more than 190,000 students across major metropolitan areas including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, and Delhi-NCR. Since KKR's initial investment in 2019, Lighthouse Learning has significantly expanded its footprint through both organic growth strategies and strategic acquisitions.

Leadership Perspectives on Future Growth

Akshay Tanna, Partner and Head of India Private Equity at KKR, expressed enthusiasm about continuing the partnership. "Lighthouse Learning has built one of the most trusted education services platforms in India. We are delighted to continue supporting their mission to expand access to high-quality education," Tanna stated.

Prajodh Rajan, Founder and Group CEO of Lighthouse Learning, emphasized the company's enduring mission. "Our mission has always been to deliver exceptional learning experiences that prepare students for a rapidly changing world. We are pleased to deepen our relationship with KKR as we enter this next chapter of growth," Rajan commented.

The company's educational portfolio comprises seven core brands: EuroKids, Kangaroo Kids and Mother's Pet in the preschool segment, and EuroSchool, Billabong High, Centre Point and Heritage Xperiential in the K-12 segment. This latest investment signals a new phase of accelerated growth and innovation for one of India's leading private education providers.
