Lucknow University's Samarth Portal Hit by Major Technical Glitch Affecting MA Results
Students at Lucknow University have been severely impacted by a massive technical malfunction on the institution's official online platform, the Samarth portal. The first-year results for MA examinations, which were declared in the second week of April, are displaying incorrect marks and erroneous attendance records, causing widespread confusion and distress among the student body.
Widespread Errors in Marks and Attendance Records
The portal is showing highly inaccurate scores, with numerous students receiving single-digit marks despite their confident performance. Additionally, many candidates who appeared for all papers are being marked as absent in certain subjects, which directly compromises their overall academic standing and future prospects.
Meghna Sharma, a student from the Philosophy department, expressed her frustration, stating, "I attempted every single question during the examination and was fully confident of scoring above 45 out of 70 marks. However, the Samarth portal is currently displaying only eight marks for my paper, which is completely unacceptable and inaccurate."
Aditya Verma, who is pursuing Ancient Indian History, reported a similar issue. He confirmed that he attended all his scheduled exams, but the portal incorrectly shows him as absent in one crucial paper. This error has significantly affected his cumulative result, potentially jeopardizing his academic progression.
Multiple Students Report Identical Portal Issues
Neha Yadav, a student from the Hindi department, highlighted that her theory marks are being shown as substantially lower than what she actually achieved. She emphasized, "Many of my classmates are encountering the exact same problem with their results on the Samarth portal. This consistent pattern strongly indicates a systemic error or technical glitch within the portal itself, rather than isolated incidents."
The recurring nature of these complaints suggests a broader technical failure that requires immediate and comprehensive resolution from the university administration to restore accuracy and fairness.
University Administration Acknowledges the Problem
In response to the growing concerns, Mukul Srivastava, the official spokesperson for Lucknow University, acknowledged the issue. He stated, "The matter regarding incorrect marks and attendance records on the Samarth portal has come to our direct notice. We are actively addressing this situation. Affected students are advised to visit the Controller of Examination office promptly, where necessary corrections and rectifications in their marks are being systematically carried out to ensure accuracy."
The university has initiated a corrective process, but students remain anxious about the timeline for resolution and the potential impact on their academic records. This incident underscores the critical importance of reliable digital infrastructure in educational institutions, especially for high-stakes processes like result declarations.
