The announcements were made during the inauguration ceremony of 'Janapada Jathre-2026,' a vibrant folk festival organized as part of the ongoing Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations.

Addressing students, faculty members, and attendees at the event, Ravikumar confirmed that the state government has formally approved the construction of a state-of-the-art ladies' lounge at the college. The project carries an estimated budget of Rs 1 crore. Additional Infrastructure Repairs and Renovations

The MLA highlighted specific areas requiring immediate attention, noting that several sections of the college compound wall are currently in a dilapidated and unsafe condition. A formal proposal seeking an allocation of Rs 3 lakh for essential repairs has already been submitted to the government for approval and funding.

In a further commitment to campus improvement, Ravikumar assured the gathering that the main entrance gate of the Government Women's College will undergo complete renovation within the current calendar year. This project aims to significantly enhance the institution's aesthetic appearance, security, and functional facilities for students and staff.

Focus on Academic Excellence and Student Achievements

During his address, Ravikumar strongly encouraged students to concentrate on their studies and strive for academic distinction. He stated that the reputation and prestige of any educational institution are fundamentally built upon the accomplishments and successes of its student body.

To incentivize excellence, the MLA announced a personal initiative: he will award prizes totaling Rs 3 lakh to meritorious students from the college who demonstrate outstanding academic performance.

Upcoming Cultural Event and Festival Highlights

Ravikumar extended a formal invitation to all students, parents, and community members to attend a large-scale cultural gathering scheduled for April 30 at the Mandya University campus. The event is anticipated to attract participation from nearly one lakh students across the region.

The Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations commenced earlier with a spectacular and colourful procession showcasing traditional folk performances. Highlights included dynamic presentations of Dollu Kunitha, Tamate, and Nagari art forms. In a symbolic gesture honoring rural heritage and culture, MLA Ravikumar arrived at the festival venue in a traditional bullock cart, drawing appreciation from the crowd.
