Mangaluru PU Colleges Launch Remedial Classes After Exam Results
Following the announcement of pre-university examination results, government PU colleges across Mangaluru district have swiftly begun remedial classes for students who were unable to clear the exams in their first attempt. This initiative aims to support unsuccessful candidates, with classes commencing the day after the results were declared and being conducted in colleges throughout the district.
Focus on Improving Pass Rates
Jayanand Suvarna, principal of Govt PU College in Shakti Nagar, confirmed that remedial classes started immediately after the results were out. He noted that government PU colleges achieved a pass percentage of 92.4, but approximately 425 fresh candidates from these colleges failed. The PU department has instructed us to hold these classes to ensure all students pass the exams, Suvarna explained. This effort is designed to enhance exam readiness and prepare students for their next opportunity.
Targeting Challenging Subjects
A college principal highlighted that a majority of the students failed in just one subject. For instance, in the arts stream, subjects like political science and English proved difficult for many. We are concentrating on these specific subjects during the remedial classes, he said, adding that most of the unsuccessful students had been irregular in their regular classes. This targeted approach seeks to address academic weaknesses and boost performance.
Upcoming Supplementary Exams
The II PUC exam 2, formerly known as the supplementary exam, is scheduled to begin on April 30. In Mangaluru district, the exam will be conducted at eight centers for 213 colleges. This remedial class initiative is timely, as it provides crucial support to help students prepare effectively for these upcoming tests and improve their chances of success.
