Meghalaya SSLC 2024 Results Declared: State Achieves 86.84% Overall Pass Rate
The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) has officially announced the results for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Examination 2024. The examination was conducted across the state from January 30 to February 11, with the results being declared on Tuesday. The board reported a commendable overall pass percentage of 86.84%, reflecting the academic efforts of thousands of students throughout Meghalaya.
Detailed Performance Statistics and Gender Analysis
Out of the total 48,623 candidates who appeared for the crucial board examination, an impressive 42,228 students successfully passed. A detailed gender-wise analysis reveals that boys achieved a pass percentage of 94.14%, while girls recorded a slightly lower but still strong pass rate of 92.88%. This year's overall performance shows a marginal decrease compared to the previous academic year, where the pass percentage stood at 87.10%.
The board attributed the successful conduct and outcomes to collaborative efforts, stating, "The joint efforts of all stakeholders — students, educators, district administration, education department, and parents — have ensured the successful conduct of the examination." This statement underscores the community-wide support system that contributed to the examination process.
Top Rank Holders and Merit List Highlights
The merit list for the SSLC 2024 examination features outstanding performers from various schools across Meghalaya. Wangaal Lama of Gorkha Pathshala Higher Secondary School in Shillong secured the top position with an exceptional score of 585 marks. Vishal Kumar from Embee Rosebud Higher Secondary School in Tura claimed the second position with 576 marks.
Interestingly, the third position was jointly shared by two talented students: Prajukta Roy of Seven Set Higher Secondary School in Shillong and Prinita Das of Pechon A Sangma Memorial Police Public Secondary School in Tura, both achieving identical scores of 575 marks. The fourth position saw a three-way tie among Samdi Mukhim of St Anthony's Higher Secondary School in Shillong, Nathanael Mantre Laloo of Seven Set Higher Secondary School in Shillong, and Wandarihun Lyngkhoi of Anderson Higher Secondary School in Nongstoin, each scoring 572 marks.
Completing the top five rank holders, Jenita Pator of Sawlyngdoh Higher Secondary School in Mowkaiaw secured the fifth position with 571 marks. These results highlight the academic excellence spread across different regions of the state.
District-Wide Performance Analysis and Rankings
The district-level performance data reveals significant variations in academic outcomes across Meghalaya. West Jaintia Hills emerged as the best-performing district with an outstanding pass percentage of 94.99%. It was closely followed by South West Khasi Hills with 94.60% and East Khasi Hills with 94.17%.
However, some districts recorded comparatively lower pass percentages, indicating areas where educational interventions might be needed. East Garo Hills registered a pass rate of 72.33%, North Garo Hills achieved 72.70%, and South West Garo Hills recorded 74.54%. These figures present a comprehensive picture of educational performance disparities across different geographical regions of the state.
In response to the results, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma extended his congratulations and reaffirmed the government's commitment to educational development. He stated, "Meghalaya government remains committed to supporting every student in their journey towards a brighter and more successful future."
