The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) has landed in hot water yet again, this time over a significant error in the admit cards for the upcoming Assistant Professor Computer Science Examination 2025. The mistake, which involved incorrect information about negative marking, triggered widespread confusion and anxiety among thousands of aspirants just days before the test.
Admit Card Fiasco: Link Withdrawn After Error Detected
The commission released the hall tickets for the examination on Friday evening. However, within just an hour of making the download link live, MPPSC abruptly pulled it down. This sudden withdrawal left candidates bewildered and scrambling for clarity. The root of the problem was a critical error in the examination instructions printed on the admit card.
On Saturday, the commission issued an official notification acknowledging the blunder. The notice clarified that the Assistant Professor Computer Science Examination-2025 is scheduled for January 4, 2026, and will be conducted in two sessions. It admitted that a mistake was made in point number 03 of the admit card instructions regarding negative marking.
What Was the Exact Error?
The admit cards released on Friday incorrectly stated that one mark would be deducted for every wrong answer, while three marks would be awarded for each correct response. This information was completely wrong. In reality, the examination pattern has no provision for negative marking at all, and each question simply carries four marks. This discrepancy caused immense stress among candidates, who had to recalibrate their preparation strategy based on false information.
Despite issuing the clarification notice on Saturday, the MPPSC did not make the revised and corrected admit cards available for download until late in the evening. With the examination date fast approaching, this delay only added to the applicants' pre-existing stress levels.
Candidates' Concerns and Commission's Delayed Response
Beyond the negative marking error, candidates also expressed worries about the examination centres. While Indore had been indicated earlier as a probable exam city, the lack of clear confirmation on the initial admit cards further compounded their uncertainties regarding travel and logistics.
Finally, on Saturday night, the MPPSC uploaded the corrected admit card link on its official website. The commission confirmed that all candidates, including those who had already downloaded the erroneous version, could now access and download the revised hall tickets. They reiterated that the updated document reflected the accurate examination pattern.
Yet Another Black Mark on MPPSC's Record
This episode has reignited serious questions about the administrative efficiency and diligence of the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission. It highlights recurring issues in the management of competitive examinations, especially those operating under tight schedules. Such errors not only disrupt the preparation of serious aspirants but also erode public trust in the state's premier recruiting body. The commission's ability to handle sensitive examination processes without last-minute glitches remains under intense scrutiny.
