Mysuru MP Yaduveer Launches Shikshana Nava Chetana Award for School Innovations
Mysuru MP launches award for low-cost school innovations

In a significant push to transform the educational landscape, Mysuru Member of Parliament Yaduveer has called for a collective effort to build an inclusive education system. He emphasized that Mysuru possesses the foundational history and leadership required to create an ecosystem where every child, irrespective of their background, can grow, learn, and succeed from cradle to career.

Launch of the Shikshana Nava Chetana Award

The MP made these remarks while launching the Shikshana Nava Chetana Award, a district-level school innovation initiative. The award is spearheaded by the organization Shikshagraha and aims to recognize and encourage low-cost, context-driven improvements in schools across Mysuru and Kodagu districts. The unveiling took place at the Shikshana Samvaada, a district-level education dialogue held in Mysuru that brought together educators, school leaders, community stakeholders, and policymakers.

Yaduveer stated that the Shikshana Samvada dialogue is the first step toward shaping a collective vision for education. "We need to move beyond isolated efforts and work together with a shared sense of responsibility," he asserted, highlighting the need for collaborative action.

Fostering a Culture of Continuous Improvement

The core objective of the Shikshana Nava Chetana Award is to nurture a culture of ongoing enhancement within schools. It seeks to empower educators and institutions to identify specific areas needing change and to design practical solutions that are deeply rooted in their local context.

Khushboo Awasthi, a weaver and representative of Shikshagraha, explained the philosophy behind the award. "The Shikshana Nava Chetana Award is grounded in a simple belief—that educators and schools already carry the wisdom to improve learning when they are trusted, recognised, and supported," she said. "Through this initiative, we want to surface and celebrate small, low-cost innovations that are deeply rooted in local realities."

Opportunities for Collaboration and Recognition

The initiative is designed to be interactive and community-focused. Participants will have opportunities to learn from each other through follow-up dialogues and spotlight events such as exhibitions and appreciation ceremonies. These events are intended to celebrate on-the-ground practices and innovations that are making a tangible difference.

The submission process for the award is now open and will remain so for one month, giving schools and educators ample time to present their innovative projects. This structured approach aims to systematically identify and scale effective, locally-relevant educational practices.

This launch marks a pivotal moment for educational development in the region, shifting the focus towards grassroots innovation and shared responsibility to build a more equitable and effective learning journey for every child.
