Nagpur University (NU) is set to introduce a series of new-age, industry-oriented degree and diploma courses from the upcoming academic session, with a strong emphasis on employability, emerging technologies, and entrepreneurship. The university administration has announced that admissions for these new programmes will commence shortly across its autonomous academic departments.
Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Programme Model
The courses have been designed under the Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Programme (AEDP) model, which aims to provide students with practical exposure and enhanced job opportunities immediately after graduation. Vice-chancellor Manali Kshirsagar stated that the university is focusing on innovative and employment-oriented education in line with changing industry requirements and technological advancements.
New Programmes Introduced
- BSc (Hons) in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence: This programme is designed to prepare students in machine learning, data analytics, and AI-driven technologies, which are increasingly in demand across various sectors.
- BSc (Hons) in Cyber Security and BSc (Hons) in Cyber Science: These courses focus on digital security, ethical hacking, cyber laws, and cyber threat management, addressing the growing global concerns over online security.
- BSc (Hons) in Semiconductor Material and Devices: This programme is expected to support India's expanding semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem and electronics industry.
The university's initiative aligns with the national emphasis on skill development and industry readiness. By introducing these specialized courses, Nagpur University aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical skills required in the job market.
