Nagpur University has issued long-awaited promotion orders for its Class 3 employees, providing major relief to staff who have been awaiting career advancement for several years. Vice-Chancellor Manali Kshirsagar approved and formalised the promotions, granting eligible employees elevation to higher grade and selection grade clerk posts.
Court Directive Compliance
The decision comes in compliance with directions from the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court dated August 25, 2025, in connection with related petitions. University officials stated that the issue of promotions had remained pending for a prolonged period, adversely affecting staff morale and administrative efficiency.
Vice-Chancellor's Proactive Approach
After assuming office, Vice-Chancellor Kshirsagar prioritised staff welfare and held discussions with employee representatives to understand their concerns. Following these consultations, immediate steps were taken to implement the court's directives. Class 3 employees form the backbone of the university's day-to-day administrative functioning.
Chandrashekhar Shelke, president of the Bahujan Employees' Union at the university, expressed his appreciation, stating, "The Vice-Chancellor's sensitivity and prompt action have finally ended our long wait." He noted that such decisive and employee-focused administrative action is being witnessed after many years.
