The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has officially launched a major recruitment drive for non-academic positions. The council has issued a fresh notification, identified as Advertisement No. 01/2025/Non-Academic, inviting applications for a total of 173 vacancies across various levels. This hiring initiative is slated for the year 2026 and offers opportunities at the NCERT head office as well as its various regional units spread across India.
Vacancy Breakdown and Post Details
The 173 available positions are distributed among three distinct employee groups, catering to a wide spectrum of qualifications and experience levels. Group A, which comprises senior roles, has 9 posts with pay scales ranging from Level 10 to Level 12. Group B consists of 26 posts under pay levels 6 to 8. The bulk of the vacancies, a substantial 138 posts, fall under Group C, with pay levels from 2 to 5.
The recruitment encompasses a diverse array of job profiles. Prominent openings include Superintending Engineer, Production Officer, and Business Manager. Other notable roles are Assistant Engineer Grade-A, Senior Accountant, and Junior Hindi Translator. The list also features technical and support positions such as Cameraman Grade-II, Technician Grade-I, Lower Division Clerk, Lab Assistant, Painter, and Carpenter.
Eligibility, Salary, and Selection Process
The educational qualifications required for these NCERT jobs are not uniform and vary significantly depending on the specific post. For some entry-level positions, passing the 10th or 12th standard or holding an ITI certificate is sufficient. Many roles, however, mandate a graduate or postgraduate degree. Certain senior positions, like the Superintending Engineer, require advanced technical degrees coupled with several years of relevant professional experience in fields like engineering, media, finance, or library sciences.
The salary structure is aligned with the 7th Central Pay Commission. The monthly remuneration for selected candidates will start from Rs. 19,900 at the basic level and can go up to Rs. 2,09,200 for the highest pay level. All postings will be located at the NCERT headquarters in New Delhi or its other units within the country.
The selection process is designed to be thorough. It will typically involve a computer-based written test as the first stage. For specific technical and trade roles, skill tests will also be conducted. Interviews are part of the process for certain posts, followed by a mandatory document verification round.
How and When to Apply
Prospective candidates must submit their applications exclusively through the online mode on NCERT's official website, ncert.nic.in. The application window is open from December 27, 2025. It is crucial to complete and submit the online form on or before the deadline of January 16, 2026. The council has explicitly stated that applications received after this date will not be considered under any circumstances.
An application fee is applicable, and the amount differs based on the pay level of the post applied for. Candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC, ST, PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities), ex-servicemen, and all women candidates are exempted from paying this fee. The payment must be made online; no offline modes are accepted.
NCERT has advised that only those candidates who thoroughly meet the eligibility criteria as specified in the detailed official notification should proceed to apply.
