Odisha CGL Applicants Appeal to Chief Minister Over Portal Technical Issues

Applicants for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination in Odisha have reached out to the state's highest authorities. On Tuesday, they sent letters to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Chief Secretary Anu Garg. Their plea focuses on resolving persistent technical problems with the CGL application portal operated by the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC).

Portal Malfunctions Disrupt Application Process

In their communication to the CM, chief secretary, and OSSC chairman, the candidates detailed several critical issues. They reported that the application portal frequently fails to open correctly. Submission of forms and necessary documents encounters repeated errors, causing significant frustration among aspirants.

A more serious concern involves financial transactions. Many applicants experienced a deduction of Rs 500 as the application fee from their bank accounts. However, their forms remained incomplete or were marked as unsuccessful, leaving them in a precarious position.

Lack of Edit Option Adds to Applicants' Woes

Sunil Mishra, one of the aspirants, highlighted another major flaw. "The application portal does not provide any edit or correction option," he alleged. This absence prevents candidates from fixing inadvertent mistakes in their submitted forms, potentially jeopardizing their applications.

The CGL examination is a crucial recruitment drive. Scheduled for March, it aims to fill Group B and C posts within the state administration. The application window opened last month and is set to close on January 21, adding urgency to the technical resolution.

Candidates Demand Immediate Action and Deadline Extension

Faced with these challenges, the applicants have made specific requests. They seek immediate measures to fix all technical snags plaguing the OSSC portal. Additionally, they are asking for an extension of the application submission deadline to compensate for the lost time. Providing an edit option in the portal is another key demand to ensure accuracy in applications.

An official from the Odisha Staff Selection Commission responded to the concerns. The official stated that the commission is currently reviewing the reported technical issues. Corrective measures will be implemented based on this review to streamline the application process.

The situation underscores the difficulties faced by job seekers in navigating digital government portals. A smooth, error-free application system is essential for fair and efficient recruitment processes, especially for competitive exams like the CGL.
