Odisha Rolls Out WhatsApp-Based Summer Learning Initiative for Government School Students
The Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has announced a groundbreaking summer learning program designed for students from Shishu Vatika to Class VIII across all government schools in the state. This initiative, launched on Tuesday, leverages WhatsApp to ensure that learning continues seamlessly during the summer vacation period.
Directive for Implementation
Additional director Amita Pattanaik has issued a directive to all district education officers (DEO-cum-DPCs), instructing them to implement this program effectively. The goal is to maintain continuity in education and prevent learning gaps that often occur during extended breaks.
Resources and Distribution
As part of this initiative, students will receive class and subject-wise assignment sheets along with comprehensive audio-visual learning materials. These resources will be distributed to parents through dedicated WhatsApp groups, allowing children to access educational content from the comfort of their homes throughout the holidays.
Key Deadlines and Technology Integration
OSEPA has mandated that district officials ensure the creation of grade-wise WhatsApp groups for parents in all government schools by April 25. Furthermore, the authority has revealed that audio-visual content linked to assignments will be disseminated using an advanced WhatsApp chatbot system. This technological approach aims to streamline communication and enhance the learning experience.
Objectives of the Initiative
The primary objectives of this WhatsApp-based summer learning program are to keep students academically engaged during the summer break and to leverage digital platforms for broader outreach. By utilizing widely accessible tools like WhatsApp, OSEPA hopes to bridge educational gaps and foster a culture of continuous learning among young students in Odisha.
