Prayagraj Schools Comply with Transport Safety Portal Mandate
The Prayagraj region has witnessed significant progress in school transport safety compliance, with approximately 70% of educational institutions uploading comprehensive details to the Integrated School Vehicle Monitoring Portal (ISVMP). This initiative, mandated by the state transport department, requires all schools to submit documentation by the April 15 deadline.
Regional School and Transport Statistics
Across the four districts of Prayagraj region, there are 17,796 operational schools. However, only 1,655 institutions maintain their own transport facilities. The breakdown by district is as follows:
- Prayagraj: 6,671 total schools, 585 with transport
- Kaushambi: 2,238 total schools, 187 with transport
- Pratapgarh: 5,008 total schools, 498 with transport
- Fatehpur: 3,879 total schools, 385 with transport
These 1,655 schools collectively operate 5,050 vehicles dedicated to student transportation. The district-wise distribution of vehicles includes:
- Prayagraj: 1,837 vehicles
- Kaushambi: 479 vehicles
- Pratapgarh: 1,626 vehicles
- Fatehpur: 1,108 vehicles
Digital Monitoring for Enhanced Safety
Sanjeev Gupta, RTO of Prayagraj region, emphasized that the online verification system through the UP Integrated School Vehicle Monitoring Portal (UPISVMP) represents a crucial step toward bolstering student safety. "This digital platform enables streamlined checking of safety-related documents by both transport and education departments," Gupta explained.
The portal became operational on April 1, with schools required to upload complete vehicle details, including registration information, driver records, compliance reports, and inspection documentation. "Following the digital submission, physical inspections will verify the accuracy of uploaded information," Gupta added.
Compliance Requirements and Government Directive
All 1,655 schools with transport facilities must submit comprehensive vehicle details along with a declaration confirming information accuracy. Schools without transport operations must still file a declaration stating their non-operation status.
This initiative follows state government instructions to strengthen child safety through digital monitoring systems. Gupta noted that the decision responds to "concerns about poor vehicle fitness and recent accidents involving school transportation."
District-level authorities from both education and transport departments will oversee 100% compliance. Schools failing to meet the April 15 deadline may face administrative action.
The move represents a significant shift toward transparent, accountable school transportation management in Uttar Pradesh, leveraging technology to create safer travel environments for students across the Prayagraj region.
