In a significant move for employee welfare, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains personally handed over regularisation certificates to twenty-one contractual employees of the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) on Monday. This ceremony took place in Mohali and marks a concrete step by the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led state government to honor its promises to the workforce.
Employees Gain Permanent Status After Years of Service
The twenty-one individuals, who had been working with the PSEB on a contractual basis, now hold permanent positions. Their regularisation falls under the state government's dedicated 'Policy for Welfare of Adhoc, Contractual, Daily Wages, Work-Charged and Temporary Employees'. The group includes sixteen packers, two cooks, two waiters, and one driver.
Minister Bains Highlights Dignity and Security
Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains extended his warm congratulations to the newly regularised staff. He stated that this action aims to provide dignity, job security, and social respect to employees who have been an integral part of the education system for many years.
"This decision reflects our government's firm resolve," Bains said. "We are ending the prolonged uncertainty faced by eligible contractual employees. We are also honoring our moral and electoral commitments to the people."
He emphasised that this step is more than just routine administrative work. It represents a core principle of the Mann government: to actively safeguard the interests of its workforce and create equitable growth opportunities for all.
Relief for Employees and Their Families
The minister added that regularisation will bring much-needed relief to the employees and their families. It officially entitles them to full service benefits under the PSEB, securing their future.
The event was attended by Punjab School Education Board Chairperson Amarpal Singh and several other senior officials, underscoring the importance of this welfare initiative.
